Knightmare

The proposal was to divide the story into two films: a Justice League 2 from 2019, intimate and character-driven, and League 2A from 2020, with the war against Darkseid. Each hero had a closed arc, and Batman ended up giving his life for his unlikely friends and the woman he loves. Board 1

League 2 would open with the team acting together in a natural disaster, weeks after the first film. They save lives, but political tension is high and the world is on edge. Afterwards, everyone returns to their own lives, except Batman, who remains alone in the cave, while Lex Luthor sets up his League: Dr. Maru in the Brazilian jungle, Orm and Black Manta in the Atacama Desert prison and Len Snart in Iron Heights. Board 2

In Metropolis, Superman hears the second heart beating and discovers Lois's pregnancy. In Paris, Diana uses the Lasso of Truth on herself to remember the path of Themyscira: she sees the island, she sees her mother and she also sees herself as the Goddess of War, killing Superman. In Canada, Batman searches for Lex and finds the Riddler; Lois arrives at Dr. Maru's laboratory and understands that Lex is forming a team. Board 3

The Riddler says he solved the Anti-Life Equation for Lex and kills himself in front of Batman. In Três Rios, Lex connects the three Mother Boxes to keep the Equation and have power over all life. Cyborg feels the data flow stop, a boom tube opens in front of Lex and out come DeSaad and Darkseid, who takes the Equation for himself. Board 4

Superman flies to face Darkseid and asks Bruce to protect Lois. Darkseid doesn't want Superman dead, he wants him to submit, and Lois is the key. He opens a boom tube inside the Batcave, faces Lois and the Omega Rays turn her to ash. Superman arrives late, and his mind is dominated by Anti-Life. Board 5

Then Lex's plan takes off all over the world at the same time: Dr. Maru poisons Themyscira and Diana dies in her mother's lap, Orm and Black Manta kill Arthur, Len attacks Flash and Cyborg is torn in half saving Barry. Superman burns Lex alive. Cut to five years later: Gotham has become a desert and Batman from Knightmare appears on the dune leading the survivors. End of part one. Board 6

League 2A begins with Green Lantern falling on an Earth that already belongs to Darkseid. Batman opens the door to the ship. Alongside him are Deadshot, Flash, Mera and what's left of Cyborg. In the sky, Ursa Major is two stars short, and Batman says they're all going to go out because of what's happening on Earth. Board 7

At the camp beneath Wayne Manor, Cyborg sets up a Cosmic Treadmill to throw Flash back in time. The window is ten to fifteen seconds and only exists once a year. The agreed plan is to tell Batman to stop Lex, but Bruce tells Barry that that doesn't work, takes the blame and whispers another sentence in his ear. Board 8

The mission to steal the Mother Box costs everything: the dominated Superman kills Deadshot and Mera, explodes Lantern's ring, hands Cyborg over to the parademons and impales Batman with the kryptonite spear. The Flash jumps anyway, arrives at the time of the fight between Bruce and Lois and delivers the sentence: Lois lied, the son is Bruce's. This time Bruce throws himself in front of the Omega Rays and survives. Board 9

With Lois' warning, Superman saves the entire League: he stops Dr. Maru's gas on Themyscira, the attack on Arthur and the ambush against Cyborg. Darkseid's invasion begins on a full scale, and then the world comes together: armies, air forces and navies, the Amazons outside Themyscira, the seven kingdoms of the sea and the Green Lantern Corps in the sky. Board 10

The Flash learns to be in two places at once and takes down an army alone, Cyborg takes the Mother Boxes and destroys them in a chain reaction, and Batman, already dying, sacrifices himself and ends Darkseid. Afterwards: Diana becomes queen of the Amazons and creates peace, Arthur is recognized as the true king, Cyborg becomes the god of the digital age and Superman embraces Lois and Bruce's son. Board 11

Twenty years later, at a memorial for Batman's sacrifice, Commissioner Barbara Gordon asks Lois what she is going to tell the boy. Crime is returning to Gotham and the city needs Batman again. Lois takes her son to the Batcave and tells him the truth about his father. In Gotham, from the shadows to the moonlight, the new Batman appears. End. Board 12
