From a petition in November 2017 to a four-hour film on HBO Max. And what came after.
#ReleaseTheSnyderCut was born small and stubborn. On November 11, 2017, six days before Justice League hit theaters, Puerto Rican Roberto Mata started a petition on Change.org calling for the director's cut and the Junkie XL score. The petition closed with 178,820 signatures.
For two and a half years, the campaign became a routine for thousands of people: hashtag every day, fundraising for suicide prevention, billboards, airplanes, Times Square. On December 4, 2019, Zack Snyder himself published on Vero a photo of the cans marked Z.S., JL and Director's Cut, with 214 minutes, and wrote that of course it existed. On May 20, 2020, in an online Man of Steel session with fans, the announcement came: his cut would come out on HBO Max.
On March 18, 2021, Zack Snyder's Justice League premiered. The campaign then became #RestoreTheSnyderVerse, asking for the films that were left on paper. This page will tell the whole story: who made it, with date, print and source, and Gui's part in it, who has been following this since 2017.
