The new owner of Warner already has a name, and DC appears at the top of the debut video. Ellison asked Gunn and Safran to continue, but no one yet knows who they will respond to.

James Gunn and Peter Safran continue to rule DC now that Paramount has taken over Warner. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the two sat down with David Ellison on Thursday, October 1st, and heard the request to stay: keep doing what you’re doing. Deadline reported the same news, with its own sources, on Friday.

The context, quickly: the judge released the sale on Wednesday, 30th, as is in Judge releases the sale of Warner, and the purchase closed on Tuesday, October 6th, with the new company debuting on the New York Stock Exchange on the same day. On Friday, the 2nd, Ellison named the company that was born from there: Skydance, the same as the studio he founded in 2006. Paramount and Warner Bros. follow as marks beneath it.

Together, we are Skydance: a creative-first home for bold, quality storytelling.

The post came with a video of scenes from the two studios, accompanied by the score that Hans Zimmer made for Inception. At the end, eight logos surround the name Skydance and, in the top row, next to the Paramount mountain and the Warner shield, is the DC circle. The Hollywood Reporter called it a Bat-Signal about DC’s weight in the new house.

Now, what changes. At David Zaslav’s Warner, Gunn and Safran reported directly to the boss. At Skydance, the doubt was short-lived. Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg, who ran Paramount’s cinema, were responsible for the cinema at both studios, but DC was left out of that line: in the organization chart that came out on October 5th, Gunn and Safran continue as co-presidents of DC Studios and report directly to David Ellison and Ynon Kreiz, according to Deadline and CNBC.

And until when? According to the Hollywood Reporter, the consensus within is that the duo at least deliver what has already been filmed: Clayface, on October 23, and Man of Tomorrow, the sequel to Superman, in July 2027. Nobody wants to repeat 2023, when The Flash and Aquaman 2 were made by one boss and released by another. Their contract expires in the spring of 2027.

And Snyder? His name did not appear in any advertisement. Just notice: in Toronto, he told Variety that he knows that the Ellisons value the brand, as we said in Snyder wants to chat with the future owner of DC. And the first thing Skydance showed the world was DC up there.

His return continues without anything official. But the company that was born on Tuesday has already said two things that Snyder likes to hear: that DC is worth its weight in gold and that creation comes first. For those who waited four years to see their own version of a film reach the public, this slogan has an address.
