Zack Snyder's Superman placed two Guy Ritchie films on the streaming charts in the same week. One of them had done badly in the cinema and now became number 1 on American Netflix.

Netflix’s number 1 film in the United States has Henry Cavill at the helm. It’s War Without Rules, the Second World War film he made with Guy Ritchie in 2024, and which MovieWeb named this Tuesday, 22, as the number 1 on the platform in the country, in front of new releases.

The good detail is where this film came from. According to SlashFilm, War Without Rules made less than 30 million dollars in theaters, with a budget of 60 million. In Brazil, it wasn’t even shown on the big screen: it went straight to Prime Video in July 2024. In other words, the film that did poorly in the cinema found the public at home, two years later, and the public went after Cavill.

And it didn’t stop there. In the same week, In the Gray Zone, his other film with Guy Ritchie, this time alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, rose 19 positions and reached 6th place on the JustWatch streaming film chart in the United States, after entering the Starz catalog.

For those who have just arrived, a little context. Cavill was Zack Snyder’s Superman in Man of Steel, in 2013, in Batman v Superman, in 2016, and in Snyder’s Justice League, in 2021. In October 2022 he appeared back with the cover, and in December of the same year the new DC Studios had already decided to continue without him.

And here comes the part that we like. There are actors who need a uniform to take people to the couch. Cavill even takes people to films that had gone wrong at the cinema, and he does it in a suit, in a uniform, in any outfit.

It’s not Superman, we know. But it’s the name that the public continues to choose when they press play. And, apparently, the desire to see this man on screen was never the problem.
